Before we start, go ahead and download the attached file( at the bottom of this page) and answer the questions ( Put your answers in Microsoft Word file)- What is a software?
- List some types of productivity software?
- Text processing or ( Text Editing ) ( ex. Word, notepad, word pad and Edit)
- Spreadsheet ( ex. Excel )
- Presentation (ex. Powerpoint)
- Personal Information Manger (PIM)
- Image Processing ( ex. Photo shop and GIMP)
- Multimedia ( ex. Real player, windows media player and Audacity )
- 3D Modeling ( ex. 3D max and blinder )
- CAD ( Computer-aided Design ) ( ex. Autocad and sketchup)
- Choosing the right software for the right task
- Ex. Identify the data that can be used by spreadsheet ( Calculations, Analysis, Graph, etc)
- How do we get software ?
- Every software has a license that states the ownership of that software ( copy rights)
- Commercial software ( You have to pay for it)
- Freeware ( Free of charge )
- Adware ( Free but it comes with ads )
- Open-source software ( Free of charge and you could get the source code)
- Shareware ( Free for a period of time, then you have to pay for it - trial versions)
- Where will I find the license?
- What is piracy? Why is it considered a crime?
- Understand the risk behind using Illegal copy of a software.
