In this activity you will have fun creating a crossword puzzle. To get started, please follow these steps:- You need to come up with 28 words with their synonyms (you have to number them off so a word and its synonym have the same number). A synonym is a word that has the same meaning of another word. For example, the word "Leap" is a synonym to "Jump". You could use Microsoft word to find synonyms for words.
- In Microsoft Word Insert a table by clicking on Insert tab > Table > Insert Table > Put 20 for Number of columns and 20 for number of rows > Click on Ok
- Now you need to make sure that all boxes are the same size. Select the whole table then click on the home tab > Set the name spacing to 1.5
- Start the Across words ( The first 14) and type them in different locations in the table. Don't forget to type the number of each word in front of it.
- The other 14 words type them vertically (Down) in different locations in the table. Words can intersect with each other.
- Under the puzzle (the table) make two columns by using text boxes. The first column list the synonyms for the Across words and the second column for the down synonyms.
- On the puzzle, the cells that left over without letters color them with black (use shading)
